Are your Cleaning Products Healthy?
Millions of families have one or more members that suffer from servere allergies and compromised immune systems. They’ve lost count of the hours spent in the Dr.’s office and the money spent on prescription drugs or over the counter medications to relieve first one symptom and then another. They spend countless hours cleaning their house, countless dollars on cleaning supplies to eliminate dust mites, pet dander and other allergens. Little do these people know that those cleaning products may contain ingredients that are not only allergens, but extremely toxic to the system if inhaled. Breathing the fumes can quickly introduce toxins into the blood. These same fumes irritate the nose, throat and mucous membranes and in some extremely susceptible individuals may even scar the lungs. Technology has allowed us to seal our homes in order to make the heating and air conditioning more efficient, but this same technology keeps the toxic fumes trapped and circulating through our homes. A 1989 EPA studied concluded that the air inside the average home is much more polluted than the outside air. Here are a few alternatives to chemical cleaning products. Apple Cider Vinegar: One of the oldest known disinfectants known. When supplies ran low at the field hospitals during World War II, vinegar was the primary disinfectant used. If you live in an area where the water is hard, mineral deposits on sinks, bathtubs, showers and commodes can be a problem. Vinegar will dissolve these mineral deposits. Vinegar and water make an excellent glass cleaner. It can also be used to remove mildew, shine chrome, polish silverware, unclog and sweeten drains. There are many more cleaning and dietary uses for apple cider vinegar.

http://www.lacetoleather.com/wondrugpag3.html Baking Soda: My favorite for polishing things. You can use it instead of a cleansing powder like Comet or Ajax. You can dissolve some in warm water and wipe down the inside of your refrigerator to remove not only food spills, but odors as well. In the washing machine put about 1/4 to ½ cup baking soda in the wash cycle a to remove odors and 1 cup vinegar in the rinse cycle to keep your clothes soft and more efficiently rinse the soap out.
